On the evening of November 22nd, 2021, Yvonne Gregory transitioned at the age of 70 at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, NC.
Von’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4th, 2021 at 11am, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.
Yvonne, affectionately known as Von to family and friends, was born on October 19th, 1951 to the late Annie Lee Ellington and Arthur Richardson. She was raised in Englishtown, New Jersey by her grandparents, Allie Mae and Rosteen Gregory, along with her great grandmother Lelia Alexander. Von was christened in the Catholic faith and attended primary school in Englishtown, NJ. She was a debutante while attending Freehold Regional High School and graduated from Cittone Institute in New Jersey with an Associate degree in Business Administration.
Upon graduation Von was the director of the Sandford Early Child Care Center in Englishtown, NJ. She switched her career path and became employed at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, NJ. Upon the closing of the state hospital, Von worked for Prudential Financial and Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance companies.
Von moved from Monmouth County, NJ to Craven County, NC with her life partner Lawrence Wynn in 1999 to unite with her family who previously moved to the area. She will be remembered for her humor, zest for life, sense of adventure and love of family.
Survived by her life partner Lawrence Wynn; her daughter, Shoba Kara Moran; grandson, Richard Gene Ross Anderson of Havelock, NC. She is the oldest of seven sisters, the late Gwedolyn Gibbs-Hyman, Regina Gibbs of New Jersey, Donna Crudup of North Carolina, the late Lisa Gibbs, Sandra Mayfield of New York, and Alison Ellington of New Mexico. Nephews, Eric & Jason Gibbs, Glen Davis, Tammon Crudup, Austin & Aaron Ellington; nieces, Koree Li & Hope Gibbs Maddox, Jodine Kenon, Jade Davis, Amber Gibbs, Alexis Mayfield, Ashley, Angelique, & Alisha Ellington; great nephews, Sebastian Gibbs, Jason & Gregory Gibbs, Jordan Gibbs, Isaiah Gibbs, Christopher Harvey and Zaafir Gibbs; great nieces, Hannah Gibbs, Melissa Harvey, Jaycee and Savannah Gibbs, Tatiana Johnson, Armani Corsello, Chanel Brady, and Aziana Gibbs.
She leaves behind a host of additional family members and friends.
