Wilma Smith

Wilma Fern Smith, 83, of Newport, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Carteret Health Care.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Wilma was a homemaker, an avid card player, enjoyed reading and watching mystery shows. She was a member of Church of Christ and the Red Hats Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Faye Blanton and husband Randall Wayne Blanton of Newport; son, Daniel Smith  and wife Kelly Rodgers Smith of Jacksonville; sister, Alice Faye Waters and husband James Waters of Venice, FL; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard Daniel Smith; and her parents, Wilson and Pearl Ison.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Wilma may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
