William “Randy” Clayton Sr., 66, of Swansboro, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, February 18, 2022.
Randy was born in Guilford County to the late Fred Love Clayton Sr. and Margaret Louise Clayton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Kathy Basham, sister- in- law, Jean Clayton; brother-in-law, David Jarrell; and nephew Herman Davis Ⅲ.
Randy was an avid sportsman. He especially enjoyed playing golf and was a devoted UNC Tarheel fan. Randy was employed by Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway and was a huge part of the racing community. He loved spending his time with friends and family and was known for telling his life stories.
Survivors include his son, Randy Clayton Jr. (Stephanie) of Stella; daughter, Kim Coleman (Jason) of Graham; granddaughter, Taylor Clayton (Hunter) of Wise, Va.; three grandsons and great grandson, Ryker Johnson.
Randy is also survived by two brothers, Fred “Dusty” Clayton of Belews Creek and Tommy Clayton (Shelby) of Maiden; three sisters, Carolyn Vann (John) of Brunswick, Ga., Patty Burrow (Leon) of Swansboro, Vicki Jarrell of Swansboro; brother-in-law, Danny Bashman of Florida; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friend, Butch Blaylock.
A Celebration of Life for Randy will be held at three-o'clock, Saturday February 26, at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway. 501 Whitehouse fork Rd Swansboro, NC 28584.
