William "Lew" Talley Sr.

William "Lew" Talley Sr., 64, of Emerald Isle, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Crystal Bluffs Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Lew’s memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 9th, on the beach at the Emerald Isle Eastern Regional Beach Access, 2810 Emerald Drive.

William, or Lew as he was known to all, was born on May 6, 1957, to George and Dorothy Talley. He was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina and grew up in Brentwood and Raleigh area. In May of 2019, he moved to Emerald Isle after spending many years in Wake Forest.

After graduating from Wake Tech, he went on to work at IBM where he retired after 30 faithful years of design work. It was there that he received several patents from designs he produced. After IBM, he went to work with Toshiba until September of 2018.

Lew enjoyed working with his hands, he could fix anything and was known to help anyone in need. He even had his own sewing machine and produced beautiful upholstery work with his business, Blue Lew Upholstery. Being on the water was certainly his happy place. Fishing and skiing on Kerr Lake, or participating in annual tournaments at Cape Hatteras in October, they were all great memories and fun times. His first car was a 1966 Chevy Chevell which he was proud to still have. He owned numerous trucks over the years which he always enjoyed.

Known for his friendly personality, he never met a stranger and always made people feel welcome. He loved to talk and always had a story to tell. Lew was a loving and supportive husband and an outstanding father. Encouraging his children to chase their dreams, he proudly supported his son being an Eagle Scout and was his daughter’s biggest fan in her dance competitions. Those early years were certainly happy and many friends were made along the way, especially during Scouts with the 3 amigos, Ken, AJ and Lew. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling, and line dancing with his E.I. friends.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Belinda Parker Talley of the home; daughter, Hope Hinkle and husband Jake of Emerald Isle; son, William “Will” Lewis Talley Jr. and wife Alexandra of Franklinton; sister, Becky Keith and husband Tom of Winston-Salem; brothers, George Edgar Talley and wife Kay, and Michael Talley and wife Norma, all of Raleigh; grandchildren, Finn Hinkle and Raegen Talley; lifelong friend, Robert Beamen; and fur babies, Maggie and Tanner.
