William "Billy" Edmund Piner
August 18, 1941 — October 3, 2014
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Bayview Cemetery with masonic rites, officiated by Rev. James Chadwick.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morehead City and Ocean Masonic Lodge # 405. His life's work was 43 years with the ILA at the Port of Morehead City. Over the years he worked his way up the ranks from the bottom to President of Local 1807 for 10 years and President of Local 1847 from the late 1980's till his retirement in 2002.
He is survived by his daughter, Lorita P. Guthrie and husband Eugene K. of Morehead City; son, Daniel E. Piner and wife Nancy B. of Morehead City; grandchild, Michaela Piner and fiance' Cody Salter; sister, Hilma P. Johnson of Durham; and special friend, Lillian Foley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carita L. Piner, parents, Horace and Virginia Hill Piner, sisters, Helen P. Harpe and Marion P. Hayenga.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
