William "Bill" Cash Young

William "Bill" Cash Young, 80, of Morehead City, NC, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at his home.

A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Epperson officiating.

Bill grew up in Frankfort, Kentucky and graduated from Frankfort High School Class of 1952, and was a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church. He served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 - 1974 and retired as First Lieutenant serving during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal, Navy Commendation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Armed Services and the Meritorious Unit Citation Cross of Gallantry. He was the former co-owner/manager of Young Toyota in Havelock, NC, owner of Young Service Center and the General Manager of Portside Marina. He served as president of AFFR Association (Aircraft Fire Fighting and Rescue) for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Phillips Young of the home; three children, Deborah Young Collins and husband Kevin of New Bern, NC, Mike Young and wife Jan of Havelock, NC and Kevin Young and wife Karen of Youngsville, NC; and their loving mother, Jean Flood Young of Havelock; two step-children, Dr. Jason Elliot of Urbana, IL and Dr. Jonathan Elliot, LCDR, US Navy and wife Julia of Pensacola, FL; father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Rosa Phillips of Morehead City, NC; also 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dudley Marshall and Willie Pilcher Young, siblings, Thelma Young Ransdall, Alice Young Tracy and Vivian Young Woods.
