The family will be honoring Bill’s memory with a second gathering of family and friends in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Bill was born on July 17, 1953, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late William and Estelle Vogel. He was a remarkable man who lived a life deeply influenced by his father's military values. Bill was known for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Bill lived in Craven County since 1995 and worked at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point FRC East where he retired from in 2011.
He found solace in the tranquility of fishing, a passion that brought him moments of joy and peace. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his family and his sweet dogs, Sophie and Walli. But, more than anything, Bill treasured his time with his precious grandson, Rhett, who affectionately called him “PaPa”.
Bill was a quality gentleman, always willing to lend a helping hand whenever and whatever the need was. Easily developing relationships with others, he had an easygoing nature filled with kindness and care for his neighbors and friends. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal serenity.
Those left to treasure his memory are his loving wife of 28 years, Pamela Vogel of the home; sons, William Gregory Vogel (Kristy) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Douglas Phillip Vogel (Kristin) of Charleston, South Carolina and their son, Rhett William Vogel; stepdaughter, Miranda Werner (Crystal Gent) of Spring Garden, North Carolina; brother, Raymond Vogel (Teri) of Emmaus, Pennsylvania; nephew, Chris Vogel (Amanda) of Cumming, Georgia and their children, Madi, Kellam, and Lawson; aunt, Eunice Lewis of Norfolk, Virginia; special cousin who was like a sister, Peggy Bradford of New Church, Virginia; along with numerous loving cousins and friends.
