William “Bill” Eugene Pitzer, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at his home in Morehead City, NC, surrounded by people that loved him.
Born May 25, 1926, Bill was raised in Cumberland, MD. In his adult years, he lived in St. Mary’s, PA where he raised his family and practiced chiropractic for more than 35 years. In retirement, he moved to Saint Michael’s, MD and finally settled in Morehead City, NC in July of 2009 to be closer to his children.
Bill will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of passion and principles. He will be remembered for his quick and jovial laugh and his love of life. He could often be found on the golf course, boating, playing chess and spending time with the people he cared about.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Pitzer, Morehead City, NC; son, William E. Pitzer, III and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Pitzer of Pine Knoll Shores, NC; and son, James R. Pitzer also of Pine Knoll Shores, NC. He is also survived by a granddaughter, Molly Pitzer West, her husband, Daniel West and great-granddaughters, Winona and Kathleen West, all of Jacksonville, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Golda Pitzer, his first wife, Jeanne Pitzer, his second wife, Vivian Sullivan Pitzer, and his daughter, Brenda Sue Pitzer.
A memorial service is being planned for the spring in Cumberland, Maryland.
