William "Bill" Carson Maynard

d. February 21, 2015

William Carson “Bill” Maynard III, 64, of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, passed away on February 21, 2015, of a sudden heart attack.

Bill was born on March 4, 1950, in Paintsville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by parents Bill and Golda (Hatfield) Maynard and sister Barbara Maynard Daube. He spent his early years in Mingo County (Trace Creek and Lenore), West Virginia, before moving to Beckley, WV at age 7. Bill graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1968, and attended West Virginia University as an engineering major. He worked for many years in the West Virginia coal mines, both as a miner and as a section foreman, where he especially enjoyed blowing things up. Later, he transitioned into the sales industry, where Bill’s great success as a salesman led to him becoming the founder, owner and CEO of Atlantic Hoist & Crane, Inc. Bill also lived in Garner, NC from 1987 to 2002. Bill realized his dream of living on the ocean in 2002 when he moved to Pine Knoll Shores, NC. His beach friends and neighbors will remember him as the social coordinator and bubble master of the coast.

Bill is survived by his son Carson (Ann Arbor, MI); his sister Sandra Maynard Pinkston (McKinney TX); nieces and nephews John and Jennifer Pinkston (Hendersonville NC), Shane and Heidi Pinkston (Martinsville VA), Skip Daube (Panama City FL), Stephanie and Rusty Byers (Frisco TX), Lisa and Danny Gaston (New Bern NC), Dawn and Gene Woyak (Albuquerque NM), Dannie Daube (OH), and their children; his extended family of coworkers at AH&C; and his special loves, Lamont Boyer Farmer and her daughter Grace (Raleigh NC).

In lieu of a funeral, the family would like to hold a celebration of Bill’s life at the beach he loved so dearly on March 28th, 2015 in Pine Knoll Shores, NC.

In acknowledgment of Bill’s deep patriotism and love of this country, and to honor those who served in the military, the family has suggested that donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project at http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
