William Everett "Bill" Umfleet, Jr.

William Everett "Bill" Umfleet, Jr., 88, of Atlantic Beach, NC, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at his residence.

Services will be held 3:00 pm Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home with Rev. Manley Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Mr. Unfleet was awarded numerous medals during his service in the U. S. Army during WWII as an airplane mechanic. A longtime resident of Atlantic Beach, he was known as "Mr. Bill" to friends and family.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Sherry Manning of Cincinnati, OH.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Umfleet and sisters, Sara Huggins, Betty Watson and Wilma Whiteside.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
