William George Garrison

William George Garrison “W.G.”, 64, of Newport, NC, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Liberty Baptist church in Crewe, VA, with Pastor Paul Wade officiating. Interment will follow the service at Belfast cemetery in Crewe, VA.

He spent the last 20 years of his life working at Cherry Point in the central heating plant. In his spare time he enjoyed to garden, fish, hunt, farm, eat good food, loved watching his grandkids play sports, and most of all, spend time with his family. He was a wonderful storyteller and had an excellent memory. He never knew a stranger and was always known as being an all-around good man. There will never be another one like him. He will truly be missed.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Anna M. Garrison; daughters, Roberta Carpenter and husband Darren of Morehead City, NC, and Kari Horstman and husband Donnie of Xenia, OH; son, William “Billy” Walker and wife Cindy of Raleigh, NC; mother, Jeanne L. McPeak; grandchildren who knew him as “Grampy”, Trent, Dara, Jordan, Riley, Laci, Alexander, and Ashton.; uncle, Ted Lewis and wife Janice of Crewe, VA; aunt, Nellie Saunders of Gretna, VA; several nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog, Lotoka.

He was preceded in death by his father, William A. Garrison.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Jennings- McMillian Funeral Home in Crewe, VA.
