William Paul Garner

William Paul Garner, 52, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 20, 2025.

A graveside service to honor William’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 25th at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Newport. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

William was born on November 9, 1972, in Morehead City, NC. He dedicated much of his life to a successful career as a waste removal truck driver, where not only drove but also served as a supervisor, demonstrating his commitment and strong work ethic.

William had a passion for collecting guns, always intrigued by the diverse makes and designs. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing games on his phone, which were both relaxing and entertaining. 

He will be lovingly remembered as a devoted son, supportive brother, faithful cousin, proud uncle, and a loyal friend. William touched the lives of many, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his mother, Nancy DeShong (Richard), and sister, Reba DeShong, all of West Point, CA. He will be deeply missed by his father, Leslie Paul Garner Jr. (Cynthia) of Newport, NC; sisters, Deborahlynn Kroener (Chris), Kristal Goins, and Shellie Goins, all of Newport, NC; brothers Christopher Paul Garner (Christy Barrow) of Newport and Michael Goins of New Bern, NC; numerous loving nieces and nephews; and his faithful friend, his dog, Sequoia. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carteret County Humane Society or a Humane Society of one’s choice.
