William "Fred" Gillikin

William "Fred" Gillikin, 75, of Harkers Island, NC, died Thursday, September 1, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at the Grace Holiness Church with Rev. Curtis Going officiating. Interment will follow at Red Hill Cemetery on Harkers Island.

Mr. Gillikin served in the U. S. Army from 1959 to 1961. He worked for 45 years as a tug boat captain, making captain at the age of twenty-one.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Fannie Gillikin of the home; brother, Leroy Gillikin of Otway, NC; sister, Veta Gillikin, also of Otway, NC; and Godson, Joel Stinson and wife, Erika of Raleigh, NC.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday at the church.
