William Briley

Major William Calvin Briley, USAF Ret., 91, of Morehead City, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at his home.
Born October 15, 1918, he was the son of the late William S. Briley and Bertie Briley Gowans. He was a member of All Saints Anglican Church, and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years of service. Following retirement from the US Air Force, he attended East Carolina University and graduated with a Master's Degree in mathematics. He then began a teaching career at Atlantic Christian College (now Barton) in Wilson, NC and retired after 18 years.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Monday, April 12, at All Saints Anglican Church with The Rev. John Grayson and The Rev. David Linka officiating. Militay honors will be accorded at the church. Burial will be in Raleigh National Cemetery, 1:00 pm Tuesday, April 13th, 501 Rock Quarry Rd., Raleigh, NC.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Hinson Patch Briley of the home; and stepson, Richard M. McAtee Patch, Jr. of Washington, DC.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Briley Hagan and Thelma Briley Davenport, and half brother, J.R. Gowans.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the All Saints Anglican Church Building Fund, 292 McCabe Rd., Newport, NC, 28570 or to a charity of one's choice.
