William "Billy" Boyd II, 67, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A funeral mass to honor Billy’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 8th, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Newport. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Billy was born on March 21, 1956, in Cherry Point, NC, to the late William and Audrey Boyd. He led a fulfilling life as a proud business owner of East Carolina Builders. Billy invested his heart and soul into the family business before taking complete ownership, and then passing the business down to his sons. His dedication and work ethic were unmatched, and he took immense pride in the projects he completed throughout his career.
Outside of work, Billy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had an infectious love for freshwater fishing, always ready for the perfect catch. Billy also enjoyed a good day on the golf course, where he honed his skills with each swing. Strumming his guitar, Billy often found himself lost in the melodies he created. Additionally, he cherished hunting expeditions and the connection to nature it provided. Billy's grilling skills were legendary, and he never missed an opportunity to gather loved ones around for a delicious backyard barbecue.
For 43 years, Billy was the devoted husband of Cynthia, his beloved wife. Their partnership was a testament to the power of love, loyalty, and faithful support. Together, they created a lifetime of memories and a strong foundation for their family.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Cynthia Shaver Boyd; daughter, Shannon Marie Boyd of Newport; sons, Shawn Patrick Boyd and wife Jaclyn, and William Patrick Boyd III "Trey", all of Newport; sister, Maureen Garner of Newport; brothers, James Boyd of Newport, and Roger Boyd and wife Judy of New Bern; and grandchildren, Carson Boyd and Evelyn Boyd, both of Newport.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his sister, Lillian Mills.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Newport Volunteer Firefighter and Rescue Association, P.O. Box 805, Newport, NC 28570.
