William Jesse Berner

William Jesse Berner, 72, of Marshallberg, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 13th at Trinity United Methodist Church in Marshallberg, officiated by Rev. Mark Lykins.

William was born on November 10, 1950, in Morehead City, North Carolina, to the late William George Berner and Ann Guthrie Berner. He had a fulfilling 40-year career as an Aircraft Technician with the Government where his precision and attention to detail were vital for his role. William also kept busy through his volunteer position as a firefighter which he did faithfully for 32 years.

In his free time, William spent time on the water where he had many happy memories of fishing and boating. He enjoyed traveling, seeing new sites, meeting new people, and learning local tales. He was a firearm enthusiast who enjoyed shooting and hunting. And nothing was more relaxing than watching a competitive game of Golf.

William was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Marshallberg. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than helping wherever and whenever he could. William will be remembered as a loving father and proud grandfather.

Those left to treasure his memory are his daughter, Nina Vidito and husband Joshua of Jacksonville, NC; son, Chris Berner and wife Kaitlin of Dayton, OH; grandson, Liam Berner of Dayton, Ohio; dear companion, MaryEllen Kirkland of New Bern; and his furry friend, his cat "Miss Kitty".
