Wilbur "Bill" Merrell

Wilbur L. "Bill" Merrell, 84, of Beaufort, died Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Crystal Bluffs.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Core Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Para Drake officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Simpson and husband George of Bettie; two sons, Mike Merrell of Core Creek and Jimmy Merrell and wife Susan of Beaufort; and six grandchildren, Bonnie Merrell, Kate Merrell, Jameson Merrell, Alex Merrell, Emma Simpson and Sara Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his wife Estelle Gillikin Merrell, brothers, Warden Merrell, Ray Merrell, Everett Merrell and Ralph Merrell, and sisters, Pauline Willis and Lucille Dickinson.
The family will receive friends 10:00 - 11:00 am Saturday prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Core Creek United Methodist Church, 124 Hardesty Loop Rd., Newport, NC 28570.
