Wayne Leslie Stokes, Sr.

Wayne Leslie Stokes, Sr., 70, of Havelock, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Wayne retired from the United States Air Force after 22 years of service including a tour of Vietnam. He was an active member of the VFW Post #7315 of Havelock, the Military Order of the Cootie of the United States Pup Tent 3, the Moose Lodge of Newport, Vietnam Veterans Post #1 in New York and the Down East Coalition for American Veterans, Chapter 26.

He is survived by his wife, Alice “Rusty” Stokes; daughter, Bobbilynn LaPinska and husband, Brandon; sons, Wayne Leslie Stokes, Jr. and wife, Mary, and Alfred L. Briggs and wife, Wendy Grace; brother, Jessie Stokes and wife, Avis; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and longtime friend, Diane Higgins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Charity Stokes and son, Russel James Stokes.
