Wayne Davis Payne

Wayne Davis Payne, 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

He was born in Danville, Virginia, the son of the late Curtis and Eunice Payne. Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Payne.

Wayne was a cherished father, beloved grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved all things Western and spent most of his later days watching the reruns of Gunsmoke, The Virginian, and all movies with gun-slinging cowboys.

Wayne was a longtime resident of Morehead City, North Carolina, and the owner of Sandcastle Motors and RVs. He frequently enjoyed eating at Cox's Family Restaurant in Morehead, grabbing a milkshake from Dairy Queen, and sitting at the boat docks watching the traffic on the ICW.

Wayne is survived by his daughters, Dee Owens and husband Sam of Aldie, VA, and Renee Smith and husband Chip of Conway, SC. Wayne had 6 grandchildren, Brad and wife Jenny of Cleveland, OH, Tim and wife Monica of Aldie, VA, Erica and husband Caleb of Purcellville, VA, Rachel and husband Corey of Bluemont, VA, Jessica and husband Stephen of Berryville, VA, and Ryan of Conway, SC. Wayne also had 7 great-grandchildren, Aaron, Abby, Aurora, Beckett, Eliana, Lia and Piper.
