Wayne Jack Mitchell, 58 of Newport passed away January 27, 2014 at Croatan Ridge Nursing Home.
The family will hold a celebration of Wayne’s life at a future date.
Born July 1, 1955 at West Point, NY, Wayne spent his early childhood years in Chicago, IL prior to moving to Delaware where he was a long-time resident graduating from Newark High School and Delaware Technical and Community College. He was a pharmaceutical research analyst before complications of Multiple Sclerosis prevented him from working.
Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and great friend to many people. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Laurie of the home; one daughter Kimberly Erb and husband Dean of Newport News, VA; two grandchildren Brandon and Daniel Jessup; one brother Kent Mitchell of Sarasota, FL; one sister Nanci Statler and husband Les of Newport, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Jayne Mitchell.
Wayne’s laughter, quirky sense of humor, and love of life will be greatly missed. He was an inspiration to many and loved by all.
