Watson Carlton Guthrie, 59, of Beaufort passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Carteret Health Care after battling a long illness.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Fields officiating.
Watson was proud to have served his country in the USCG after leaving school. He then worked as a painting contractor for over thirty years. Loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed time with family, fishing and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Lilla Hudnall Guthrie of the home; one daughter, Deirdre Joyce Guthrie of the home; three sons, Samuel Nathan Hargis of the home; Watson Carlton Guthrie Jr. of Florida; Joshua Paul Guthrie of Newport; one brother, Douglas Earl Guthrie II and wife Loretta of Morehead City; two nieces April Guthrie Herring and Nichole Willis Kirschbaum; and one nephew Steven Guthrie; also three grandchildren, Ameliana Neal, Gabrielle Ann Guthrie and Bradley Hargis.
He was preceded in death by his parents Douglas Guthrie Sr. and Billie Joyce Watson; one sister, Debra Guthrie Shray;also first wife, Marcita Serena Guthrie; two nephews, Douglas Earl Guthrie III, and Nicholas James Willis;
