Walter "Maxie" Maxwell Bell, Jr.

Walter “Maxie” Bell, Jr., 57, of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at his home in Morehead City.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City, with Father Tom Davis officiating. Interment to follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park in Newport.

Maxie retired from the Carteret County Board of Education. His passion was volunteering with the Town of Morehead City Fire Department and EMS. He also loved to coach and umpire for different sports, especially softball. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his father, “Max” Bell, Sr. and wife Drema Bell, of Wilmington; brother, David Bell of Wilmington; sister, Mary'alice Higley and husband Mark of Wilmington; step-brothers, Matt and David Mullins of Wilmington; step-sister, Minna Ware of Wilmington; special aunt and uncle, Mike and Charlene Pargeter of Morehead City; nephew, Dylan; nieces, Kaila and Hannah; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Helen Pargeter Bell.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at Munden Funeral Home. They will also be receiving friends at Mike and Charlene Pargeter’s home, 200 Florida Avenue, Morehead City, NC 28557.
