Wade T. Pearson

Wade T. Pearson, 85, of Atlantic Beach, NC, and formerly of Wilson, NC, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.

A celebration of Wade's life will take place at 6 p.m., on Saturday, July 13th at Memories Beach Club in Atlantic Beach.

Born on November 8, 1938, Wade was the son of the late Wade and Bettie Pearson. Wade loved his hometown of Wilson, NC, where for 81 years he resided in the very house where he was born.

Following his high school graduation, Wade furthered his education at Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College. His professional journey led him to a rewarding 30-year career with the State of North Carolina, notably contributing his skills at the Unemployment Commission. In his final role as a labor inspector. After retirement, Wade worked for the NC Food Bank, Wade diligently collaborated with farmers to facilitate donations of their produce to those in need.

With an amazing talent for cultivation and a genuine passion for gardening, Wade was proud to be a Master Gardener. He generously imparted his wisdom and innovative techniques to his community, particularly excelling in the growing of squash and tomatoes.

Among his diverse interests, one of Wade’s greatest joys was shag dancing. His fast moves and skill were recognized when he earned a well-deserved place in the Atlantic Beach Shaggers Hall of Fame.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 38 years, Yvonne Pearson; daughters, Debby Futrell (Jeff) of Wilson, NC and Charlotte Kinney (Ben) of Charlotte, NC; niece, Betty Putney; nephews, Bobby Pearson, Fred Pearson, and Steve Pearson; grandchildren, Pearson Futrell, Emilee Futrell, Jackson Kinney and Reid Kinney; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Pearson and Yvette Mcclam (Michael).

In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his siblings, Georgia Martin and Robert Pearson.
