Vivian "Vickie" (Grant) Kornegay
September 20, 1927 — April 16, 2013
Vivian "Vickie" Grant Kornegay, 85, of Emerald Isle, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, Tuesday April 16, 2013.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 Friday at Swansboro United Methodist Church with Dr. Ed Gunter officiating.
Vickie is survived by her husband of 65 years Barney Kornegay of the home: daughter Cindy Kornegay of Garner: and life long best friend Jewel Nelson of Emerald Isle.
She is preceded in death by her mother Sallie Grant and her brother Roger Grant.
Vickie and her husband Barney formerly of Kinston were the owners and operators of the Barbecue Lodge Restaurant in Kinston for 42 years.
In 1990, Vickie fulfilled a lifelong desire to retire to the beach and moved permanently to Emerald Isle where she and Barney have enjoyed many wonderful years together.
Visitation will follow the service at the Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Raab Oncology Clinic 302 Medical Park Morehead City, NC 28557, Hospice of Carteret County PO Drawer 1619 Morehead City, NC 28557, or Swansboro United Methodis Church Building Fund 665 W. Corbett Ave. Swansboro, NC 28584.
