Virginia Dare Oglesby, 81, of Morehead City, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at home with her family.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at First Baptist Church in Morehead City with Darrell Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
Dare was born and grew up in Stacy and graduated from Atlantic High School. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church of Morehead City teaching Sunday School there for many years. After her marriage she became a homemaker and devoted farm wife at Crab Point. She loved fishing, clamming, crabbing, and oystering in Newport River and was very generous, preparing home cooked meals, and sharing goodies and vegetables from her garden. Her favorite past time was spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter Kay Gardner and husband Dale of Morehead City; grandson Roger Gardner and wife Bobby Lynn of Morehead City; great grandson Jesse Gardner; and a brother Earl Fulcher and wife Janice of Davis.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Bobby Oglesby.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Munden Funeral Home.
