Virginia "Ginny" Talton

Virginia "Ginny" Talton, 77, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at her home.

A funeral service to honor Ginny's life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 4th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Gary Carroll. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Sunday, March 3rd at Munden Funeral Home.

Virginia, lovingly known as Ginny, was born on March 17, 1946, in Morehead City, NC, to the late Bill and Avis Gorges. Ginny was a kind-hearted soul, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her outgoing personality meant that she never met a stranger and her warm smile, and gentle spirit, endeared her to everyone.

After graduating from Morehead City High School with the class of 1964, Ginny pursued her passion for learning at East Carolina University. She furthered her education at Towson State University in Maryland where she earned her bachelor's degree. Throughout her career as a dedicated teacher, she made a lasting impact on countless students, inspiring them to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.

Not only was Ginny dedicated to her profession, but she was also actively involved in her community. As a member of the Laureate Alpha Tau Chapter sorority, she found joy in volunteering and supporting various charitable causes. A woman of faith, Ginny was a devoted member of Newport Baptist Church for 40 years.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted and loving husband, Randy Talton; daughter, Tiana John of Newport; sons, Joseph King (Kerri) of New Bern and Jason King (Ali) of Sanford; sister, Victoria Austin of Beaufort; brother, William David Gorges of New Bern; and grandchildren, Liam and Ramie.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made in Ginny's name to Newport Baptist Church, 312 Chatham St, Newport, NC 28570.
