Virginia C. Howell

Virginia C. Howell, 66, of Gloucester, passed away Sunday, January 6­, 2019, at Carteret Health Care.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Straits United Methodist Cemetery.

Virginia retired from the Department of Academic Affairs, where she was the Coordinator of Special Projects in the Office of Faculty Development at North Carolina State University. She enjoyed her role there assisting students and facility. Virginia was an active member of the Outer Banks Lighthouse Society.

She is survived by her husband, E.G. Howell, Jr. of the home; sons, Glenn Howell and wife Courteney of Raleigh and Jason Howell of Beaufort; and granddaughter, Emma Leath Howell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.J. and Grace Chadwick and granddaughter, Julia Reid Howell.
