Virgilio Cajio Bauzon, 82, of Havelock, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020, at his home.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at the Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens Chapel, officiated by Pastor Jim Kohr. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens. In keeping with the CDC guidelines pertaining to the Coronavirus, those who are ill or at-risk (elderly, immune-compromised) are encouraged to stay home. Additionally, there will be a limit to the number of people in the building at one time, as well, those who attend will be asked to bring and wear a protective mask. Upon entering, guests will be asked health questions and their temperatures will be taken. Help us honor the Bauzon family while practicing safe measures. Virgilio was born on May 5, 1938 in Población, Natividad, Pangasinan, Philippines. His early childhood years were spent with his parents and siblings struggling to survive as the Philippines was a heavily contested battleground in World War II. In 1955, Virgilio graduated from Zaragoza Jr. College, Philippines and went on to attend Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. He was very close to his older brother, Virginio Bauzon, and followed his example by enlisting in the United States Navy in 1962. During his naval career, Virgilio would become a Vietnam War veteran and would rise to the rank of PO1. After his retirement in 1981, he worked for NADEP, Cherry Point, NC until he retired at the age of 65 years old. In 1964, Virgilio married the former Perlita L. Espe of Bacnotan, Philippines and they raised three children. They were married for 54 years until her passing in 2018. He spent his remaining years in the home he and his wife purchased new in 1975 and lived a simple, peaceful life with his son, Darwin and grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael and Juliette.
He is survived by his sons, MAJ Bert D. Bauzon and wife Sahar of New Bern and Darwin D. Bauzon of Havelock; daughter, Dessie M. Laxton and husband David of Durham; grandchildren, Dr. Madelaine Bauzon of Denver, CO, Jonathan Bauzon, Michael Bauzon, Juliette Bauzon of New Bern, Gregory Laxton and Alicia Laxton of Durham; great-grandson, Lance Cai of Denver, CO; nephew, Marvin Bauzon and wife Dianne of San Francisco - Oakland, CA; and nieces, Madeleine Machado and husband Jim and son Dylan, Margaret Arnold and husband Chris and children Alex and Achilles, Michele Lex and husband Don and children Marcus and Cole and Maxine Oh and husband Andy and children Ethan, Kyra and Logan of San Francisco - Oakland, CA; and sister, Victoria Lobendino of Natividad, Pangasinan, Philippines.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Perlita E. Bauzon; parents, Teofilo Bauzon and Francesca Cajio; brother, Virginio C. Bauzon; father-in-law, Alfredo M. Espe; mother-in-law, Juana O. Lopez; and sister-in-law, Minda L. Ordono.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Freedom Baptist Church at 600 Lake Rd, Havelock, NC 28532.
