Virgil Allen Elliott, 59, of Newport died Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his residence.
Services will be held 1:00 pm Monday at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Lindblade officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Virgil is survived by his mother, Retha H. Elliott of the home; special aunts, Bonnie Schaner of Grand Rapids, MI, Edna E. Ewell of Gates, NC, and Ruth Mann of Newport, NC; very close friends, Sue and Thomas Allen, Mike and Pam Madeson, Pat Truby, and Joyce and Jim Ferrell, all of Newport, NC.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lemuel A. Elliott.
The family will receive friends 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service at the church.
