Violet "Janie" Pittman

Violet “Janie” Pittman, 69, of Stacy, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at her home with her family and friends by her side.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Stacy Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Reverend Ernest Laxton, Jr. Interment will follow at Stacy Community Cemetery.

Janie was a member of Stacy Free Will Baptist Church.  She was a talented cosmetologist and enjoyed using her gifting in that area. Janie was also a pre-school teacher and bus driver at Beaufort Christian Academy. When she had her second child she became a stay at home mom and she was grateful for the opportunity to be at home with her children. In later years, she was a substitute teacher at East Carteret High School and also a care sitter at Taylor Extended Care where she retired.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Billy Pittman of the home; daughters, Jane P. Stockinger and husband, Rudi of Climax; Jinger H. Pittman of Stacy; mother, Violet F. Swinson of Morehead City; sister, Donna H. Davis of Morehead City; brother, Jesse “Ray” Swinson, Jr. of Morehead City; grandchildren, Jessica Stockinger, Jaden Fulcher, Ethan Fulcher.

She was preceded in death by her father, Curvis Hamilton.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at Stacy Free Will Baptist Church.
