Vincent "Vince" Andrews Monfalcone, Jr., 72, of Morehead City, NC passed away after a strong fight with cancer on March 18, 2014 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be 3:00 pm Saturday at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Drive in Wilmington, NC.
Vince was born in Newport News, VA on March 5, 1942 as the first child of the late Ruth Fenton and Vincent Andrews Monfalcone. He graduated from Warwick High School in 1960 and then became the 5th generation of Monfalcones to work at the Newport News Shipyard prior to serving in the United States Coast Guard for four years. Vince met his late wife, Mary Frances Platt Monfalcone, in Wilmington, NC where his Coast Guard ship was based. In 1969, they were married in Wilmington where Vince worked for BellSouth for 28 years prior to retiring in 1996 just before Mary's passing. Vince married his second wife, Nancy, in 2000, and the couple moved to Morehead City in 2001. Vince was happiest around the water, living his whole life near the coast. His final resting place will be within sight of the intracoastal waterway on which he spent many enjoyable family weekends.
Vince is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Andy (Kerri) Monfalcone, Dawn (Glenn) Sloan, and Jimmy Carroll. He is also survived by his siblings, Carl (Ellis) Monfalcone, Diane (Ray) Boyette, and Joyce (Bill) Corey; six grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
