Vincent E. Castellana

Vincent E. Castellana, 46 of Havelock, NC died unexpectedly from a severe allergic reaction on June 26, 2019, at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Annunciation Catholic Church located at 246 E. Main Street in Havelock, NC.

He was born in Fredonia, New York on August 19, 1972.  Vince graduated from Fredonia High School in 1990, received a BS from the State University of New York at Fredonia in 1994, and a PhD, in Mathematics from Auburn University in 2007.  While attending college in Fredonia, Vince served as a volunteer fireman, and worked as EMT and drove ambulance for WCA. Vince was Chair of the Havelock Campus for Craven Community College, NC since 2017 and professor of Mathematics from 2012.

In October 2004, he married Christine Weber after fate brought them together for a second time. Vince was a devoted father and husband, giving his unfailing love and support to his family through good times and bad. He enjoyed board games, computer gaming with his family, and attending all of his children’s events.

Vince was one of the most patient people you would ever have the pleasure of meeting, always happy to lend a hand to someone in need. Anyone who met him liked him because of his kind nature and those knew him loved him dearly. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues. His booming laughter and kindness will live on in our hearts forever.

Vince is survived by his wife, Christine Weber and his children, Devin, Olivia, and Arista all at home; his parents Tom and Joan Castellana of Fredonia; his brother Edward (Younhee) of San Diego, CA; and sisters Cheryl (Ken) Schall of Plymouth MI, Jennifer (Jeff) Majka of Fredonia, and Amy (Fred) Piede of Fredonia.
