Vina N. Vesco

 Vina N. Vesco, 58, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A graveside service to honor Vina’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 12th at Cedar Grove Cemetery, officiated by Frank Jarman. 

Vina was born on March 17, 1966, in Long Beach, California, to the late August and Patricia Vesco. In 1984, at the young age of 18, Vina moved to North Carolina, settling in Carteret County. 

Vina's dedication to serving others was seen throughout her career. Having earned her bachelor’s degree from Southern New Hampshire University, she channeled her compassion into supporting numerous individuals at LeChris Counseling Services where she worked as a peer counselor. Vina’s commitment to helping those in need left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her best friend of 40 years, Marion “Dee Dee” Gray of Newport, NC; brother, Lyle Shier (Phyllis) of Warwick, RI; and dear friend, Craig Godfrey of Newport.

In addition to her parents, Vina was preceded in death by her brother, Stephen Hathorne.
