Vilma Rose Morton

Vilma Rose Morton, 93, of Harkers Island, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service will be at 5:00 pm Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Munden Funeral Home Chapel in Morehead City with Pastor Tim Marriner officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
Vilma was born on Harkers Island and raised in the downeast community. She retired from Morehead City Garment after 20 years. She loved to garden and cook for others and was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Vilma is survived by her daughters, Sarah V. Lewers of Superior, CO and formerly of Beaufort, and Amy DeBruhl and husband Lee of Morehead City; grandchildren, Leslie Lewers and wife Katie, Cody Jordan and wife Megan, and Cody DeBruhl; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Oneal Morton; parents, Charlie and Emily (Gaskill) Rose; son in law, Gary A. Lewers; brothers, Charlie Rose, Norwood Rose, and Romaine Rose; and sisters, Gladys Taylor, Sophie Gillikin, Mary Rose Vinston, and Lillian Gillikin.
The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service.
