Victoria Jeanette Stickney

Victoria Jeanette Stickney, 30, of Cherryville, NC, beloved daughter, cherished sister, and loving mother passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at Duke University Hospital after a courageous battle with a sudden illness.

Funeral services will be held at Church of the Redeemer in Shelby, NC at a later date.

Victoria was a graduate of Burns High School where she was actively involved in chorus with her beloved teacher, Mrs. Goss. She participated in the Children’s Theater at Shelby High School for many years. She was active in the choir, youth groups, and assisting with worship services at Church of the Redeemer in Shelby. She provided caring and compassionate home care to a number of friends and family members in the community.

Her sons, Sherron and Bryson, were her greatest joy and she was proud of and celebrated all their accomplishments. She enjoyed her role as an older sister and shared a special bond with her sister, Sarah. Her outgoing personality, infectious smile, and caring nature made her loved by many who where fortunate to get to know her.

She is survived by her sons, Sherron Whitworth and Bryson Hogue of Newport, NC; parents, Robert Stickney Jr. and Leslie Richardson of Newport, NC; sister, Sarah Stickney of Hickory, NC; aunts and uncles, Susan Richardson and Celine Boyle, both of Kennebunk, ME, Kyle and Doug Clarkson of Irvine, CA, Christine Stickney, Linda Landau, and John and Ruth Stickney, all of Stanwood, WA, Richard and Theany Stickney of Lake Stevens, WA, Debbie Woolard of Tacoma, WA, Pat Woolard and Sonny Williams, both of Williamston, NC; many loving cousins; and special friends, Matthew, Nathan, Annette, and Corey.

Victoria was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bob and Charlotte Stickney; maternal grandparents, Bill and Pauline Richardson; and her beloved, other mother, Brenda Cook.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all of their loving friends who supported her and the family during this illness and to the doctors and nurses at Atrium Carolinas Medical Center and Duke University Hospital who provided such compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held at Church of the Redeemer in Shelby, NC at a later date.
