Verona Garner Phillips, 86, of Newport, passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Carteret General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held 6:30 Tuesday at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Starnes officiating.
Ms. Verona was a member of Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons Phillip Morris of Colorado Springs, CO, and Paul Morris and wife Arlene of Newport; four grandsons; and four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband James E. Phillips, first husband Ernie Morris, parents Don and Daisy Garner, two brothers, and two sisters.
Family will receive friends following the service at the church.
