Vernon “Gene” Parish, 62, of Newport, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

His memorial service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Munden Funeral Home Chapel, Morehead City, officiated by Brother Bob Lowery.

Gene dedicated 22 years to his career at Henry’s Tackle and then left to pursue his dream of being self-employed in construction and property management.  He is known for being a skilled master carpenter and spent many hours working in his shop.  Gene played just as hard as he worked.  What brought him the greatest joy was spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and camping with his boys.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gail of the home; sons, Vernon Jason Parish and wife, Laura of Newport, Adam Carter Parish and girlfriend, Annalisa Nieuwsma of Wilmington; sisters, Judy Garner of Williston, Joyce Parish of Newport; brother, Billy Parish of Pelletier; grandchildren Jackson Walker Parish and Charlotte AnnElise Parish; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Vernie Mae Parish; sister-in-law, Kerry Parish; brother-in-law, Allen Garner.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City.
