Vernon Paul Garner, III

Vernon Paul Garner, III, 52, of Newport, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 28­, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the First Freewill Baptist Church at 912 Bridges Street in Morehead City, officiated by Rev. Jerry Johnson.

Vernon was a graduate of West Carteret High School. He was an avid lover of woodworking, fishing, boating and spending quality time with his family and friends. Vernon will be remembered for his crooked smile and huge loving heart. He will be dearly missed by all.

Vernon is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Ann, of the home; daughters, Arika Nguyen and husband, Van, of California, Tiquia Hayes and husband, Will, of Texas, Natasha Furr and husband, Braxton, of North Carolina; son, Christopher Wood of North Carolina; parents, Paul and Rosa Garner of Newport; maternal grandmother, Alice Cherry of Morehead City; sister, Cindy Payne and husband, Danny, of Newport; sister-in-law, Debra Harris of Hubert; uncles, Clyde Ebron and wife, Tammie, Gene Ebron and wife, Gale; nephews, Daniel Payne of Newport, Ken Cayton and wife, Cassandra, of Newport and their children, Carson and Kaleb Cayton; and grandchildren, Wyatt and Nora Nguyen, Ian Beers, KC, Tristan and Logan Hayes, Destiny, Gavyn, Syara and Braislyn Furr, Taylor Wood and Breanna Jones; any many devoted cousins and special family and friends.

Vernon was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vernon Sr. and Rubie Garner and his maternal grandfather, John I. Ebron.

Visitation with the family will be held at the church from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018.
