Verna Parsons Bennett was 59 years old and lived in Newport, North Carolina. She was married to Roy E. Bennett for 41 years and had one child, Dr. Jennifer M. Bennett.
She was born in Hooping Harbour, Newfoundland, Canada on November 26, 1952. She graduated from Carteret County Technical College and owned her own cosmetology business for many years. Verna was an active member at Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City, NC. She enjoyed volunteering and particularly enjoyed her time working at the St. Andrew’s Thrift Store in Morehead City.
She is a beautiful, kind, generous, loving woman. She is dearly loved and will be missed by many. We are encouraged that she is at peace and now the stars in heaven will shine brighter forever.
Verna was diagnosed with brain cancer in 1994 and courageously battled the disease, pursuing all avenues of treatment. She passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
Memorial service at Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City, NC is tentatively scheduled for Friday, January 6th, 2012 at 2pm.
