Ulick Arthur Mahoney Jr.

Ulick Arthur Mahoney Jr., 69, of Morehead City, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at his home.

He will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Ulick was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, on May 27, 1952, to the late Ulick and Lillian Mahoney. Honorably serving in the United States Navy, he was a Vietnam Veteran serving as a submariner from 1971 until 1979.

Following the military, he moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia where he worked on the Norfolk Navy Base with the Department of Defense until his retirement in 2017. As a Sonar Technician, he was responsible for underwater surveillance, assisting in safe navigation and assisted in search, rescue, and attack operations.  In 2018, he and his wife, Sue, moved to Morehead City where he enjoyed his retirement and the beautiful Crystal Coast.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Mahoney of the home; daughter, Kristen Giersch and husband Derek of Bozeman, MT; stepchildren, Zach Searcy and wife Randi of Fernandina Beach, FL, Kate Searcy of Swansboro, Sarah Searcy and husband Mike Jackson of Raleigh, and Luke Searcy of Triangle, VA; sisters, Kerry Willis of Duxbury, MA and her daughter, Amanda, and Gael Warmington of Plymouth, MA; brother, Mike Mahoney and wife Lauren of South Dennis, MA and their children, Sean and Erin; and grandchild, Harper Searcy.
