Truman Dixon, 78, of Harkers Island, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Pruitt Health- Crystal Coast Nursing Facility.
A funeral service to honor Truman’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 20th at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Mr. Anthony Nelson. Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 19th at the church.
Truman was born on Christmas day 1945, in Harkers Island, to the late Louie and Iona Dixon. As a young child, he attended church at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness. Truman loved putting model boats and cars together and other crafts while at Pruitt Health. He enjoyed playing bingo there also. Truman’s favorite snack was a tasty honey bun washed down with an ice-cold soda.
A family man through and through, he had a special place in his heart for his brother, Wilford. Truman’s favorite holiday was Christmas when he delighted in passing out Christmas cards each year. He was loved by his Pruitt family and they took amazing care of him. Truman never met a stranger and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his nephew, Jimmy Dixon and wife Sheila of Harkers Island; niece, Debbie Dixon of Harkers Island; great nieces and nephews, Rebekah Dixon of Harkers Island, Brandon Dixon and wife Mandy of Straits, Brittany Jannise and husband Cody of Harkers Island; great-great nieces and nephews, Chandler Dixon, Sadie Dixon, Gaines Jannise, Ford Jannise; and his special cousins and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Truman was preceded in death by his brother, Wilford Dixon; nephew, Mitchell Dixon; and great-nephew, James Dixon.
