Traudel "Jill" Weaver

Traudel “Jill” Weaver, 77, of Newport, passed away Tuesday, December 18­, 2018, at Carolina East Medical Center.

There will be a memorial gathering and visitation from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home.

Jill was born and raised in Germany during World War II. In her early twenties, she immigrated to the United States where she worked hard to support her family. In her retirement years, she didn’t slow down, she extended her love and kindness to many children in our community when she became a foster parent. She was an excellent cook, baker and she always enjoyed decorating her home. She was known as the matriarch of the family who cared for the ones she loved. Jill will be remembered for her tough love, honesty and her loyalty to her loved ones.

She is survived by her daughter, Tania Rhame and husband Tom of Swansboro; sons, Tom Henze of Richlands and Craig Weaver and wife Martha of Maysville; grandchildren, Christopher, Ashten, Mercedes, Kayla, Joshua and Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Presley, Beau; Mike Yaghi and his family, that Jill considered her own; and the foster kids that she helped over the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 25 years, Johnny B. Weaver and her parents.
