Tony Willis, 72, of Marshallberg, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2016 at Marshallberg United Methodist Church with Pastor Manley Rose officiating.
Tony was born and raised on Harkers Island. He retired after 32 years with the North Carolina Department of Transportation building bridges.
Tony loved to hunt with his boys and spend plenty of time outdoors on his farm or at his own camps; that he built from scratch in Chocowinity and Cedar Island. He also enjoyed woodworking and making duck decoys and was an active member of the Core Sound Museum. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Tony is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sally Willis of the home; three sons, Craig Allen Willis, Christopher Duane Willis and Chuck Louis Willis and wife Nannie; sisters, Trudy Willis, Terry Riggs and husband Robert, and Tina Rodriguez and husband Buddy; grandchildren, Jeffrey Willis, Zeth Willis, Drake Willis and Hannah Willis; aunt, Coleen Willis; and lifelong friend Johnnie Van Willis.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lema Willis Straub; aunts, Vienna Fulcher and Sophie Willis; maternal grandmother, Elena Willis; uncles, Don Willis, Johnnie Willis, Pete Willis, and Fernie Willis.
The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Marshallberg United Methodist Church.
