Thurston McCoy Rice, 91, of Crab Point, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Karl Zorowski officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Cemetery.
He was a devoted, dedicated, and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a commercial fisherman, yacht captain and worked at the NC State Ports Authority until he retired.
He is survived by his live in companion of seven years, Evelyn Ebbets of the home; two daughters, Greta Haye of Crab Point, and Pamela West and husband Jim of Wildwood; three grandson, Thomas McCoy Haye of Wildwood, Brian West of Wildwood and Chris West of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren, Jason Daniel Haye of Wildwood, Jasmine West of Red Springs and Christin West of Fayetteville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Frances Rice, his mother, Lila Rice and father, Bertie Rice, and a daughter, Frances Diana Rice.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
