Thomas Ray “Buddy” Hansley, 70, of Newport, passed away on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Carteret Health Care.

He was born in Morehead City and grew up in Newport. Buddy worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his life. He had a great love of gardening and spending time outdoors.

His graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Gethsemane Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.

He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Hansley Stephens of Jacksonville; son, Brandon Ray Hansley of Newport; sisters, Josephine Hansley Piver (Jim) of Beaufort, Alice Reed (William) of Chocowinity; and grandchildren, Trinity, Kylah, Alexa, Caiden, Taylor, Cierra, Brandon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Thelma Hansley; sisters, Shirley Ann Simerson, Dorothy Buck; and brother, John Hansley.
