Thomas “Big Tom” Bernich, Sr., 62, of Morehead City, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home.
Big Tom was known throughout the community as the “Scrapping Man”. When others considered items as junk medal, he considered it a treasure.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rossie Bernich of the home; daughters, Marianna Bernich Herrera and husband Adrian of Newport, Keleisha Maldonado and husband Santos of Charlotte; sons, Brandon Bernich and Tommy Bernich, Jr. both of Newport; brothers, Barry Bernich and Frank Bernich both of California; grandchildren, Sophia Maldonado, Jonathan Herrera Bernich, Jessica Maldonado, Thalia Maldonado, Aniya Herrera Bernich, Marc Thomas Maldonado; and his special dogs, Reco and Baby Girl, and also survived by many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marianne Bernich, brothers, Donnie Bernich and Melvin Bernich.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations may be sent to Munden Funeral Home in care of the “Bernich Family” made payable to Munden’s and sent to 2112 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
