Thomas Russell, 95, of Morehead City passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Friday, February 19, 2016 at Bayview Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rights with Pastor Powell Osteen officiating.
Thomas was born in Beaufort, to the late Nathaniel H. and Maud Frasier on July 8, 1920. He attended St. Paul’s School in Beaufort and graduated from Beaufort High School and went on to attend Elon College. Joined the US Navy when WWII broke out and served in the Pacific. In 1947 started Russell’s Glass Shop and remained active in the business until retiring in 2008. He was instrumental in the organization of the Romeo Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out) for Veterans of WWII. Member of Masonic Lodge 405 and Member of First United Methodist Church
He is survived by his daughter, Beth Mason; one son, Thomas” Russ” Russell and wife Sabrina; four grandchildren, Oliver Russell, Alexandra Russell, Clay Mason, and Chad Mason; also one great grandson, Tyler Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris Russell; parents, Nathaniel H. and Maud Frasier Russell; and two sisters.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church in Morehead City, 900 Arendell St. Morehead City, NC 28557 and Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, NC 28570.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service at Bayview Cemetery.
