Therese Catherine Schwarz, 78, of Havelock, passed away on Mother’s Day, May 9, 2021, surrounded by her family.
Mother’s Day was an appropriate day as she was an amazing mother to her five children, Frank (Stefanie), Paul (Brent), Shawn (Amy), Christine (Robert), and Michael (who she has now joined in heaven).
She is survived by her husband, Frank. Married for 58 years, they were more in love at the end of her journey than they were on their wedding day. Their relationship served as a wonderful example of how people should treat one another. Also left to deal with a hole in their hearts with her loss are her surviving children and 8 grandchildren (Tyler, Hannah, Ethan, Alex, Emma, Olivia, Jillian, and Zoe).
Therese was not only a wonderful wife and mother; she was active in her church and her community. Therese spent countless hours and energy serving God as a member of many different church committees at Annunciation Catholic Church including organizing Bunco games and the Bereavement Committee, and the Recording Secretary of the Catholic Daughters of America chapter. She was also involved in promoting the community as a secretary of the Havelock Appearance Commission and organizing Wii Bowling at the Senior Center.
Therese loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and godchildren. She loved watching Judge Judy, wine, Twizzlers, travelling, and experiencing new places. Though she lived in coastal North Carolina, she loved snow. At every opportunity, she would go out in any snow she could find and make a snow angel. Now she will be our “snow” angel.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 14, 2021, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Havelock. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens in Havelock. The family will receive friends the evening prior at the church from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friends are welcome to attend the mass. For those unable to attend, the service will be available for viewing on Therese’s obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.
