Terry Elaine Doak

July 13, 1944 — November 19, 2021

Newport

Terry Elaine Doak, 77, of Newport, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, at her home.

Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 2nd, at Glad Tidings Church. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Terry was born in Pensacola, Florida, on July 13, 1944. As a diligent, hardworking woman, she was the first female to be accepted into the apprenticeship program at the Pensacola NADEP in Florida. In 1994, Terry moved to North Carolina and continued working with NADEP at Cherry Point.

One of the most impactful experiences in her life took place over 20 years ago in April of 2001, when she was blessed with the gift of life, receiving a liver transplant. The new lease on life was a blessing and allowed her to value each day with thanksgiving. Her faith sustained her throughout her years, and she grew in the knowledge and love of the Lord at Glad Tidings Church where she was a member.

Her faithful furry companion, Bam-Bam, who was always at her side, was a comfort and motivator as she enjoyed getting out each morning and taking him for a walk. More than anything, Terry treasured her family and especially enjoyed quality time with them at their family mealtime gatherings.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Doak; daughters, Genie Bell of Morehead City and Debbie Favorite and husband Johnny of Newport; son, Todd Whan of Morehead City; sisters, Bunks Kyzar of Gulfport, MS, and DeeGee Knowles of Lake Park, GA; uncle, Bubba Bauler of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren, Sara Wesley and friend Tyler of Beaufort, Jay Favorite and wife Kelly of Newport, Brian Favorite of Newport, Mandi Whan of Newport, and Jonathan Bell of Lubbock, TX; great grandchildren, Sariah, Isac, Tate, Taya, Kara, Cali, Lillian and Kaylee; and by many special friends mostly from church and work.

Terry was preceded in death by her son, Jay Rodger Whan and parents, John Tyson Symons and Gene Elizabeth Bauler Symons.
