Terry Wayne Brooks
July 17, 1955 — February 6, 2017
Terry Wayne Brooks, 61, of Washington, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at Vidant Beaufort County Hospital.
A service with military honors will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Veteran’s Garden at Gethsemane Memorial Park on Highway 24, with Reverend Greg Barmer officiating. Terry served honorably in the U. S. Army.
Terry is a native of Washington, NC where he graduated from Washington High School. Terry relocated and made his home in Morehead City when in 1986 he married Terry Lynn Nichols. He often said, “living in Morehead City were the best days of my life.”
Terry spent many hours on his commercial fishing boat, shrimping, while he attended Carteret Community College. He earned his associate degree in respiratory therapy, from Carteret Community College. Terry was named student of the year. Later Terry owned and operated Terry Brooks Home Improvement.
Terry is survived by his; mother, Doris Brooks Karnowski; brother, Braxton Brooks, Jr.; and sister, Brenda Ingram.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, Braxton Brooks Sr., and sister; Patricia Clark.
Terry was a gentle man with a kind heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
